Formally trained as a graphic designer and illustrator, Deb Mackie also brings to the world of miniatures a background in theatrical set and costume design. The journey into sculpting and customizing began with her desire to include realistic figures and animals in her 1:12 scale dioramas.
Deb likes to create figures that have a personality, and are a bit out of the ordinary. Elderly fairies, geishas and dominatrices to glamour queens, pinup girls and school teachers have graced her show table. There’s also plenty of guys: sexy Santas, muscle men and genies, to cowboys, bikers and kilted scotsmen.
Deb has also returned to one of her first loves: horses. 1:12 scale customized resin models and hand-sculpted original horses have found their way into her dioramas and show table. She's taught several workshops at miniature shows on customizing the resin horse, which have been well attended by enthusiastic students. She also creates hand-crafted miniature leather saddles and accessories in 1:12 scale. |
